GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Location:
The New Castle Historical Society is located in The Horace Greeley House at 100 King Street in Chappaqua, New York.

 

Hours of operation:
The New Castle Historical Society is open to the public each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1pm-4pm and on Saturday from 1- 4pm. The museum is also open by appointment.

Month of August:  the museum is closed on Saturdays during the month of August.

 

Holiday Hours:

Closed Dec. 25th and Jan. 1st.

I-95 North to New Jersey Turnpike North Turnpike TOWARD George Washington Bridge 
Stay in RIGHT lane
DO NOT GET ON THE BRIDGE 
Follow signs to the Palisades Parkway
Travel North to New York State Thruway East
Travel east, following signs to cross the Tappan Zee Bridge
1 mile after bridge (it seems a short mile!) the highway splits
Stay RIGHT which is now Route 287 - Cross Westchester Expressway
100 yards - take the FIRST exit on the RIGHT
50 yards - the exit splits
Take Left up and around sharp curve onto Saw Mill River Parkway North

DRIVING NORTH ON SAW MILL RIVER PARKWAY:
Exit #32 Chappaqua
Turn LEFT at end of exit ramp
Turn LEFT at light onto Quaker Road, Route 120
Go over the railroad tracks
Bear LEFT at the triangle onto S. Greeley Avenue
Bear RIGHT at the next intersection onto King Street
The Horace Greeley House is 1/8 mile on the right at 100 King Street - gray building.

FROM CT &/OR UPSTATE NEW YORK VIA I-84:
Take Route 84 to junction with Route 684
Go south on 684 - approximately 10-12 miles
At signs for Katonah & Route 35, are signs for Saw Mill River Parkway
Go south on Saw Mill River Parkway - approx. 10-12 miles

DRIVING SOUTH ON SAW MILL RIVER PARKWAY:
Take Exit 32, go RIGHT at exit, stop sign and light on Quaker Road - Route 120
Bear LEFT at the triangle onto S. Greeley Avenue
Bear RIGHT at the next intersection onto King Street
The Horace Greeley House is 1/8 mile on the right at 100 King Street - gray building.

DRIVING SOUTH ON MERRITT PARKWAY:
Take Exit #27 onto Route 120A
Turn RIGHT at the end of the exit ramp
Follow 120A North till you see sign for quick LEFT & then RIGHT onto 120 King Street
Follow 120, crossing Route 22, all the way into Chappaqua
At a signal light at a "T" (between Mobil & firehouse) turn RIGHT, then immediately LEFT onto King St.
Continue down a hill, the Horace Greeley House is on the left at the bottom of the hill.
